Google's Page Rank Is No Longer A Hot Topic

In search engine forums around the internet people obsess over Google and every twitch it makes. Any time there is a change or a snippet of new information discussions are rampant for days and weeks.

It comes as a bit of a surprise to me that there has been almost no discussion about Google rep Matt Cutts' October 2 blog post titled "More info on PageRank".

I guess people have finally woke up to the idea that Page Rank is now just a very small component of Google's ranking algorithm now. It sure took a long time - we first discussed the Death of Page Rank back in June 2004!

At 2:34 AM, 4MySales said...: The page rank may be just a small contributor to the overall scoring calculations for Google, but acceptance of this realization will still take quite a while to trickle down to the masses. I think page rank will still remain a priority for many pseudo search engine professionals.

Back in 1994 when the World Wide Web was still young and I was a Realtor, I saw the potential in promoting my services on the internet - and since there was no such thing as a "webmaster" back then I built my own internet site. Within a week I had my first lead from the web site and I was hooked! In 1997 Realtors in other areas were reading about the success I was having and asked if I could duplicate the success for them - and I have been doing it ever since. In 2001, after a dozen years as a Realtor, I left real estate so I could concentrate all of my attention on the ever-changing web business to ensure that my Realtor clients continued enjoying success on the internet. What I do is provide agents with a web site system that has been personalized just for them with flexible formats that have proven successful in placing well in major search engines (which is how prospects find Realtors on the internet) and have proven successful in generating leads as well. The web sites are constantly being "tweaked" to accommodate changes with search engine algorithms and also to incorporate new ideas once they have proven successful.
